“La Sicile comme nous l’aimons: lente, chaleureuse, conviviale. Très loin des routes touristiques, cette ferme en carré à l’ancienne, organisée autour d’une cour fantastique, semble sortie du Moyen Âge, avec ses grosses pierres, sa désorganisation très sicilienne. La région n’est pas évidente, on est dans la « Sicile de l’ntérieur », où les villages sont pauvres et survivent dans un foutoir indescriptible où la bagnole fait la loi, où la propreté le long des routes semble pour le moins compliquée, mais c’est par contre une excellente base pour visiter les merveilleux villages de Gangi, Petralia Soprana et, surtout, Sperlinga (une perle et un château inouï), classés parmi les plus beaux villages d’Italie. Mais au-delà de l’aspect rural un peu hors du temps de l’endroit, au bout d’une route sur une colline qui fait face à Nicosia, c’est surtout l’exceptionnel accueil de Luigi et de sa famille qui fait la différence. Pas de chichi, pas de grandes phrases, mais des sourires, des bambini qui courent partout, des chiens paresseux qui ronflent où ils veulent, des chats qui se dorent au soleil en se moquant des visiteurs, c’est le bonheur évident d’un endroit hors du temps qui n’a besoin de personne pour être serein. L’accueil multilingue de Luigi force le respect, c’est un mec d’une simplicité et d’une gentillesse désarmantes. Mais le sommet du séjour reste la cuisine exceptionnelle servie dans une grande salle à l’italienne. Tarte à la ricotta, lasagne aux pistaches, biscuits maison, minestrone aux légumes du jardin, on ne sait pas par où commencer pour décrire tous ces petits bonheurs de la table qui nous ont littéralement ensorcelés. Nos trois jours ont été un festival de saveurs simples, probablement une des meilleures tables depuis que nous visitons l’Italie. Et le tout servi comme si vous faisiez partie de la famille. Tout n’est pas parfait dans cet endroit, mais vous plongez dans ce qu’il y a de plus authentique: l’amour des gens.”
